Whole-wheat Chocolate-Honey and Cinnamon bun

Hey everyone…welcome again…let me give you a brief introduction of this recipe. If you are from Nigeria, you would know that a typical Nigerian bun doesn’t contain cocoa powder for a chocolate taste or with cinnamon spice. This beautiful bun recipe is with cocoa powder, cinnamon and with a little oil, a good way to spice up your buns game.

Another thing about this recipe is the low oil, naturally when frying a typical bun Nigerian bun, you tend to do a deep frying. In this case I made use of my non-sticky flat, added oil to the pan to just float around it then I used a low heat to begin, and as it progressed, I used a high heat to continue frying, all this to reduce the oil content though with a healthy one, fatty content is still necessary to be controlled.

This helps reduce the amount of fat used and gives your buns a puffy foamy look at the top and the bottom. This recipe gives you something different to present to your family for the festive periods or anytime for get together and parties… don’t worry it’s very easy and quite fast, before you know it you are done.

So, let’s get bake-cooking…lolzzzz…

Ingredients

1) 2 cups of Whole-wheat

2) 2 table spoons of cocoa powder

3) 3-4 table spoons of Honey

4) Half tea spoon of salt

5) 1 teaspoon of baking powder

6) Half teaspoon of grounded cinnamon

7) 2 egg whites

8) 1 table spoon of any no cholesterol oil

9) Skimmed or plant Milk (optional)

Prep

1) In a bowl add your wheat, salt, cocoa powder, baking powder, cinnamon, mix thoroughly.

2) Mix your oil, egg whites together and Milk if you want to use one, mix all together.

3) Pour your wet ingredients into your dry ingredients and mix thoroughly, till you get a seedless mixture.

4) Add more water if needed and keep mixing, till your batter is smoother, light but heavy. If you have a blender, you could make use of it.

5) Pour your oil into the pan, just a little higher than the floor of the pan, let it just float.

6) Use a low heat to heat up your oil, use a tablespoon to collect your batter in lumps into your oil, space them apart.

7) Then increase the heat, turn over to the other side when it’s a bit brown and when it starts detaching from the pan you could also use a frying spoon to check and then turn over.

8) Remove them and transfer into a sieve and for the oil to drain out.

Serve and enjoy…
